Description of Program |
USArtists International (USAI) is committed to ensuring that the impressive range of expression of the performing arts in the United States is represented abroad, and that the creative and professional development of American artists is enhanced through participation at significant international festivals. Through USAI, grants are available to American dance, music and theater ensembles and solo performers that have been invited to perform at international festivals and engagements that represent extraordinary career opportunities anywhere in the world outside of the United States. |

Description of Support or Services |
Grants will seldom cover the applicant's total expenses and generally range from $1,000 to $10,000. Grants will not exceed $15,000. Travel & per diem, international communications, shipping, artists' and agents' fees related to participation in the international festival are among eligible costs supported through the program. |

Eligible applicants must be dance or music ensembles, including practitioners of folk and traditional forms, that work at a professional level, and be a 501(c)3 nonprofit or have a 501(c)3 fiscal agent. Eligible festivals must take place in one of the 25 countries of the European Union: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Festivals must be international in scope with representation from at least 2 countries outside the host country, or have a U.S. theme with representation from at least 3 U.S. performing groups; reach a wide audience and be open to the general public; and provide the applicant with a letter of invitation to perform at the festival. Submit application summary sheet, letter of invitation from the festival, application narrative, bios of principal artist(s), budget sheet, statistical information sheet, copy of ensemble's or sponsor's tax-exempt ruling, 2 copies of festival brochures or other promotional materials, works samples and work sample descriptions. |

Selection Process/Criteria |
Panels composed of specialists in the fields of dance and music will review applications and make recommendations based on artistic excellence and artistic merit, including significant of the applicant's presence at the festival as it relates to the ensemble's professional development, the significance of the festival locally and internationally, and the quality of the proposed engagement including evidence of reasonable financial support from the festival in the context of the local economic situation. |
