Mission Statement Residency Unlimited explores innovative art residency formats and fosters customized residencies to support and advance the practices of local and international artists and curators. We operate across multiple platforms and communities, we foster collaborative partnerships and tap into multifaceted resources locally and internationally. We further our investigations online by disseminating critical information on the evolving field of art residency. We believe in the transformational potential of residencies on creative development and their impact on the communities in which they exist.

Year Program Founded 2009
Description of Program Residency Unlimited (RU) creates customized environments of support for artists in all disciplines and at all stages of their practice. We also organize residencies for curators and critics. What Residency Unlimited can provide to artists in residence: 1. Comprehensive support “pre-residency” Before the residency begins, an early engagement with the artists allows us to anticipate their needs and evaluate our organizational capacity to undertake a project. 2. A gathering and networking space Residency Unlimited’s headquarters are primarily conceived as a discussion space where ideas are explored and interaction occurs. At 360 Court street, participants are invited to weekly meetings with a variety of cultural producers for individual critiques and presentations. Activities are designed to generate meaningful connections and artistic dialogue. 3. Production & Technical support Residency Unlimited provides customized production support for the development of projects as well as workshops to learn new skills. 4. Exposure RU artists in residence are offered various presentation possibilities across the City. This is made possible through the partnerships we create (in 2010, Flux Factory, More Art, Issue Project Space, Elastic City, Chashama). We also commission curators to work with the artists and develop specific projects.
