Mission Statement The mission of the Metropolitan Arts Council is to stimulate and support artistic expression and its appreciation and enjoyment in ways that enrich all citizens, artists, cultural organizations, and communities of the Greenville County. We accomplish this by providing funding and other vital services to individual artists, arts organizations and arts education programs that greatly impact the economic well being of the community.

Description of Program The funding priority of the quarterly project grants program for artists is to support activities that advance the artistic development of Greenville County artists and ensembles. Grants are awarded to help underwrite actual project costs, not ordinary living expenses, and are intended to further the professional development of our region’s artists.

    Other Restrictions No more than two grants may be awarded to an applicant within one fiscal year. Artists Project Grant Program Purpose: The funding priority of the quarterly project grants program for artists is to support activities that advance the artistic development of Greenville County artists and ensembles. Grants are awarded to help underwrite actual project costs, not ordinary living expenses, and are intended to further the professional development of our region’s artists. An Artistic Collaboration grant application is also available. Call MAC for more information. Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must satisfy ALL eligibility requirements as follows: * Be a practicing artist in dance, literature, media, theatre, or visual arts. * Be at least 18 years old and not a matriculating student throughout the grant cycle. * Be a permanent residence of Greenville County for a minimum of 6 months prior to the application deadline and during the grant period. * Have the ability to match 1:1 any grant funds awarded.

    Material/Process A complete application packet includes the following: - One copy of proof of Greenville County residency (voter registration, driver’s license, etc.); - One copy of the completed and signed Certification Form; - One copy of the 2-page project narrative and detailed project budget as described in guidelines. (Typed using at least a 12 pt. font); - One set of résumés of applicant and other artistic personnel involved in project; - One copy of support material (slides, video, exhibit brochures, CDs, reviews, etc.).

    Ideal Contact Month for New Application and Guidelines
    Selection Process/Criteria Eligible applications are sent to members of the panel who deliberate and recommend funding levels to the board of MAC for final approval, generally within 6 weeks of the application deadline. The grants panel, appointed by the board as recommended by staff, is chosen from a pool of citizens selected for their diverse representation of artistic and cultural interests. You will be invited to appear for a 5-minute timed session before the panel to offer additional information and to answer questions. The panel will then continue deliberations and make recommendations of funding levels.
