Description of Program |
VSA, in partnership with Volkswagen Group of America, presents this annual exhibition to recognize and showcase emerging artists with disabilities, ages 16-25, who are living in the United States. This collaboration supports these artists at a critical time when many are deciding whether to pursue the arts as a career. The award validates, and helps finance, that life-defining choice. Each year, the call for entry has a different theme.
Every year, fifteen artists are selected for the exhibition and share $60,000 in cash awards generously provided by Volkswagen Group of America: Grand Prize is $20,000, First Prize is $10,000, Second Prize is $6,000, and the remaining Awards of Excellence are $2,000 each. Winners will exhibit their selected artwork in a year-long, nationally touring exhibition, and attend an all-expenses-paid professional development workshop in Washington, DC.
