Description of Service The Writers' Room provides affordable and secure workspace for emerging and established writers in Boston. Members can choose to meet regularly for readings, the WROB salon, and other community events. An annual reading of the members’ work is organized every summer and open to the public.

The Writers’ Room is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by its members and a board of directors, which is comprised of Room members and community leaders. The Room is supported by quarterly, sliding-scale membership dues and contributions from both public and private sources.

Members of The Writers’ Room are poets, novelists, journalists, graphic novelists, translators, librettists, playwrights, memoirists, and historians.

Membership fees are charged at a monthly rate of $100 with a three-month commitment required. There is also a one-time $50 key fee ($40 of which is refunded upon return of the keys).

Current members review each application for membership. Applicants are evaluated based on their proven commitment to writing, rather than professional success.
