Description of Program In 2017, CERF+ will award “Get Ready” Grants of up to $500 to individual artists working in craft disciplines in two grant cycles. The “Get Ready” Grant Program encourages awareness of and provides funding for artists to conduct activities that will help safeguard their studios, protect their careers and implement other safety measures to help artists build and sustain strong and resilient careers. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis.

    Material/Process The required supporting documentation is to be submitted with the online grant application form. The required documentation includes:

    -A written narrative (Entered in the application form itself. 400 word maximum) or short video (YouTube or Vimeo video link to be provided in the application form. Maximum of 3 minutes) that includes:
    --A description of the proposed emergency readiness project
    --An explanation of how the applicant, the applicant’s artwork, studio, or other art business asset, and/or the applicant’s artistic career will be better protected as a result of the proposed project
    --An explanation of how the readiness activity will be continued after the grant funds have been expended, if applicable
    --An explanation of how the project might be used to inspire other artists to learn more about emergency readiness and career protection
    -Information documenting an ongoing history of producing a body of work in a craft discipline(s):
    --A resume detailing your accomplishments as an artist working in a craft discipline. If applicable, the resume should list exhibitions and shows; publications featuring your work; awards; education; teaching experiences; and/or any other accomplishments that will help us evaluate your career as a professional artist working in a craft discipline (.doc, .docx, or pdf. format) --3-5 high resolution images of your art created within the past three years (.gif, .jpeg, or .tiff format)
    -A list of estimated expenses (Entered in the application form itself) to be incurred in order to implement the project, specifying which expenses the grant will fund and the sources of funds for any other expenses.

    Selection Process/Criteria CERF+ Staff CRITERIA FOR GRANT DETERMINATIONS The impact the proposed project will have on the applicant’s emergency readiness and/or career protection The potential impact the proposed project could have for inspiring other artists to learn more about emergency readiness and/or career protection measures The degree to which the applicant’s artwork is well designed and executed, and exhibits integrity as traditional or contemporary craft The feasibility of the proposed project
