That´s the basic principle of all artists´ colonies; however, most require a residency of at least 4 weeks. This excludes many serious artists who, for whatever reason, also have to earn a living doing other work. So the typical stay for an artist at Red Cinder is 10 days to 2 weeks ­ enough time to complete a short-term project or get a longer one well started. Artists are selected by a panel of peers designated by Red Cinder´s director.
