Mission Statement Artspace inspires individual creativity by engaging the community in the process of the visual arts. Artspace is a non-profit visual art center dedicated to providing inspiring and engaging arts education and community outreach programs, creating a dynamic studio environment of over 30 professional artists, and presenting nationally acclaimed exhibitions. Since 1986, Artspace has been Raleigh’s visual art center providing the community with the opportunity to interact with working artists and participate in hands-on arts education. Artspace is a thriving visual art organization with a uniqueness that lies in its emphasis on the art of creation.

Description of Program Provides emerging visual artists from North Carolina with time and space to explore their work in a supportive, thriving, artistic environment. One artist in his/her early professional career is chosen from a regional pool of applicants. Two 6-month residencies are granted per year in Raleigh, NC. Conditions/Public Service Requirements Each month residents will be presented to the Triangle community during Artspace's opening receptions and gallery walk. Artists must be ready to enjoy working in an open studio setting where the public is able to interact with the artist during public hours. Artists must work in the studio a minimum of 15 hours per week during public hours.

Description of Support or Services Residency includes a private, rent-free studio with 24-hour access. Each month residents are presented to the Triangle community during Artspace's opening receptions and gallery walk. A fully supported exhibition of the resident's work will be presented in the studio during the final month of the residency. Transportation and living quarters are not provided.
