Mission Statement The main goal of the Textile Arts Center is to provide support to fiber artists, and everyday people interested in working with fiber, by acting as a resource facility and creative meeting place and by providing accessible, skills-based classes that reinvigorate engagement with traditional crafts.

Description of Program Over the course of 9 months (September-May), eight artists and designers complete a curriculum that includes weekly seminars, technical workshops, group critiques with guests from galleries, museums, textile and design industry, and other working artists, and a group exhibition via Textile Arts Center at culmination of residency cycle, including studio visits and artist talks.
Conditions/Public Service Requirements Residents engage in a volunteer and/or work study program with TAC that allows a smooth integration with the larger TAC community, and provides opportunities for teaching, teacher training, technical + product development, collaboration, and more.

Description of Support or Services Benefits:
• Association with a quickly growing arts organization focused on the textile and fiber community that holds classes, workshops, exhibitions, guest lectures, screenings while working with esteemed teachers, artists and designers from the textile industry and art world.
• Exposure through TAC marketing and programming to include blog entries and posts featuring artists; link on TAC website to personal work as well as individual bios; catalogue for group show; networking
• Teaching and development opportunities with TAC programming for adults, teens and children
• (1) Free class at Textile Arts Center, followed by 30% off all additional classes taken.
• 24/7 access to personal 8’ x 8’, well-lit space. Each space has 3 full walls, and one half wall. Sufficient shelving will be supplied, as well as a “tack” wall.
• 24/7 access to brand new resource library and lounge; classroom/conference room; large communal work tables
• Additional access to TAC studio and equipment (includes floor looms; sewing machines; drying rack; utility sink; dye lab for natural and synthetic dyes; washer/dryer; steamer; screen printing facilities which include 3 yardage tables, large exposure unit and washout booth).

Other Restrictions TAC encourages International applications but can only accept applicants that do not require special visas at this time. TAC is unable to supply living accommodations, but can aid in guidance in these areas as needed.

Contact Requirements
Material/Process Check TAC's website for exact application deadline for 2017 and to access the online application. Tuition for the program is $9500 for the 9 month cycle. TAC will work with accepted candidates on payment plans and installments. Applicants should let TAC know if they will be seeking finantial aid from third party grants, through the application process. Residents are responsible for their own travel fees, housing and art supplies

Selection Process/Criteria The juried selection process is led by Textile Arts Center, as well as other partners, taking into strong consideration the applicants’ portfolio, clear ideas on work to be created during time of residence, and desire for a strong community.
