Mission Statement The Village was one of the first agencies in the country to provide homes for neglected children. Today, they continue to achieve their mission, “To build a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children,” by providing a full range of behavioral health treatment for children and youth, foster care and adoption, and community support services for children and their families in the Greater Hartford region.

Description of Service The Family Financial Stability Initiative helps Individuals living in Hartford over the age of 18 with incomes less than $50,000 per year effectively manage their finances and achieve financial goals.

Through free one-on-one coaching, participants learn how to create a budget, understand and improve credit scores, reduce debt, define their financial goals, and develop a plan to reach their goals. Participants may also be eligible to open an Individual Development Account to begin building their savings to purchase assets (e.g., a car, school uniforms for their children, a computer and much more). A match is available for qualified Hartford women, helping them achieve their goals sooner.
Conditions/Public Service Requirements The Family Financial Stability Initiative is open to individuals living in Hartford with incomes less than $50,000 per year. Individual Development Accounts are specifically open to women living in Hartford with incomes less than $50,000 per year.
