Description of Program Hadley Creatives is a 6-month learning and engagement experience for local artists who are at a pivotal point in their careers. Through a competitive application process, 15 artists who demonstrate potential and readiness to pursue a career as a working artist will be selected for this professional development program. The Community Foundation is partnering with Creative Capital to develop a curriculum that will help local artists build their professional practice, cultivate an expanded peer network, and dedicate time for reflection and planning.

Applicants must live in the greater Louisville area and must be generative rather than interpretive, including but not limited to writers, composers, choreographers, visual artists, multi-media artists, photographers, and filmmakers.

Conditions/Public Service Requirements Applicants must be able to attend the opening retreat and closing workshops and all in-person sessions.

    Contact Requirements Submissions must be received no later than August 4 at 5:00 p.m via the online portal. Late submissions will not be accepted.
    Material/Process Applicants must answer 4 application questions and submit an updated resume and 5 work samples, each completed within the last two years.

    Selection Process/Criteria Up to 15 applicants will be invited to participate in the 2017 Hadley Creatives program. Community Foundation of Louisville staff will determine minimum eligibility. The Community Foundation and Creative Capital are committed to diversity in all its forms. Artists of color, artists with disabilities, and/or those who identify as LGBTQIA+ are especially encouraged to apply.

    An anonymous selection committee will review the applications from those artists who have met the minimum eligibility requirements. Artists will be selected based on:

    - Quality of work
    - Commitment to artistic practice
    - Artistic vision
    - Motivation
    - Readiness

    Emphasis will be placed on selecting artists who:
    - Have the creation of new work as the primary artistic focus (as compared to interpreting existing works).
    - Demonstrate readiness to transition to a new phase of professionalism in their artistic career.
    - Could benefit from setting goals and building new professional skills in support of their work.
    - Could benefit from a new network of professional artist contacts.
