In 2000, MetLife Foundation and Repertorio Español joined forces to establish the MetLife Nuestras Voces National Playwriting Competition to discover the best Latino plays and bring them to the attention of the American theatre community. These original works relate to Latino culture, history, and life in the United States while at the same time reflecting the universality of the human condition.

Playwrights must be residents of the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Full-length unpublished/unproduced scripts in either Spanish or English. No musicals or adaptations. Plays that have not had a full production by a professional theatre company, not reviewed, and not produced in New York. Plays that have had a staged reading are eligible. Email submissions are not accepted.
