Description of Service |
Teaching Artist support in dance, theater, storytelling and music in classroom, offering students an exciting combination of performance, narration and audience participation, through which they can discover and appreciate the performing arts and develop an awareness of cultural history and diversity. Corresponding residency programs are available for many programs and can be scheduled before or after the performance to give students a deeper understanding and appreciation of the art form.

Conditions/Public Service Requirements |
Young Audiences New York considers the following criteria when evaluating performance programs:
Artistic quality is high
Ideas are clearly introduced (with student involvement if appropriate)
Ideas are reviewed at the close of program and/or at other appropriate moments
Ideas are illustrated/developed through performance moments
Students participate in the program in ways that further the artistic and educational goals of the program
Artists have an excellent rapport with students and display a keen enthusiasm for their material
Program design is innovative and well-structured with a strong opening and closing and a diverse, age-appropriate repertoire |
