**PLEASE NOTE. PROGRAM SUSPENDED** Engine 27 is offering from twelve to 24 residencies per year to sound artists, composers, musicians and new media artists. |
Conditions/Public Service Requirements |
A residency will typically include the final work’s public presentation in our gallery, but this is at the discretion of Engine 27. Presentations are usually single concerts or installations of two to four weeks duration, weekends from 2-8pm (times subject to change). |

Description of Support or Services |
Projects will fall under three residency program categories, with each including a production schedule of 40 hours of studio time accompanied by an engineer/programmer. Categories include Master/Mid-Career Artists, Emerging Artists and In-House Collaborations. Master/Mid-Career and Emerging categories are self explanatory. In-House Collaborations could include proposals to develop educational sound works for children or teens, historical reconstructions of exisiting spatialized sound works, the use of novel interactive interfaces that would becoame available for other artists to use, development of our infrastructure through the incorporation of new tools, etc. An honorarium of $1,000, and expenses for the hiring of supplementary musicians or equipment will be provided if necessary. |

At this time we are not accepting residents whose works incorporate sculptural objects, video or other image technologies other than our integral 24 channel lighting grid. Residencies will take place at Engine 27 in New York City from September to July. Artists who area warded a residency must wait one calendar year to reapply. |

Selection Process/Criteria |
Priority will be given to residencies which seek to explore and extend the possibilities of our unique 16 channel sound system. Review criteria: Professional experience of the artist (please include a brief resume and an example of a previous sound work; feasibility of completion of the proposed project using Engine 27's resources; and appropriatness of project in relation to our mandate to explore multi-channel audio creation. Applications will be juried in-house by Engine 27 staff. |
